Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies with Sea Salt

Sometimes you just want cookies for breakfast. And you know that? That's okay. I will always support you in wanting cookies for breakfast, especially when they're fresh out of the oven and the chocolate chips are melty and they have little sea salt flakes on top.

But first, TV. I am sooooo excited for all of my shows to be back and I'm hoping that there are some new shows I want to watch as well. I remember watching all the previews for the new pilots and there were a few that looked good, in theory. Just hoping that they are actually good.

Though, if not, there are other shows that I've never seen that I want to get started. Like House of Cards, Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black, and Vikings (though I've seen the first two episodes of that). I definitely have been missing out on some great shows, but I'm a little intimidated to start something on netflix. Partly because it's a lot of episodes to watch and also because I'm worried it's going to just suck up days of my life at a time. Thoughts?

I guess as long as I have cookies involved, I will be a-okay. Especially if they are these. They aren't very sweet and the sea salt on top gives them my favorite sweet-salty combination. They're best the day of or the day after, though you can pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds and they'll be delicious and melty again!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies with Sea Salt

makes about 3 dozen cookies

1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups granulated white sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Maldon sea salt flakes, for topping (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mat. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar for 2-3 minutes, until light and fluffy. Add in eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth and creamy. Slowly add dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

Spoon dough by the tablespoonful onto the baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.

Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes, or just until set. Sprinkle sea salt on top and let cookies cool for 5 minutes on cookie sheet (they will deflate - that's okay and good!) and then transfer to a wire cooling rack to let cool completely.
